Eternal Flight

In twilight’s grip, where shadows creep,
Two lovers met ‘neath yew trees’ shade,
Their hearts entwined, their vows ran deep,
Yet fate’s cold hand their love betrayed.

Elara, pale as moonlit snow,
Her eyes like stars in midnight’s veil,
Clung to her love, young Corvus, woe,
Whose whispered oaths grew thin and frail.

The castle’s ruins, draped in mist,
Held secrets carved in crumbling stone,
Their stolen kisses, softly kissed,
Now echo where the winds bemoan.

A curse, unseen, with venom spread,
Through blood and bone, their doom was cast,
Her breath grew faint, his heart now dead,
Their love consumed by shadows past.

Her gown, once white, now stained with grief,
Clings tattered to her spectral form,
She wanders moors, no hope, no relief,
Her cries devoured by endless storm.

And Corvus, bound to death’s embrace,
A wraith with eyes of hollowed coal,
His fingers trace her vanished face,
His screams a wound within his soul.

The raven watches, perched on high,
Its mournful caw a lover’s dirge,
Their shades entwine ‘neath starless sky,
Yet never meet, their fates diverge.

No warmth remains in frostbound glade,
No light to pierce their endless night,
Two lovers, lost, in darkness fade,
Their love a ghost in eternal flight.
